Combat States

Overview

Combat States are temporary effects that change what a ship or monster can do during combat. Real states are effects such as control, damage over time, shield protection, buffs, recovery, revive and short combat feedback.

Some old helper pages mixed drones, mines, turrets or temporary helper behavior into this category. Those are better understood through their item, weapon, shield, map or event page. This page focuses on states that behave like actual combat effects.

How to Read a State

QuestionWhy it matters
Is it harmful, defensive or supportive? This decides whether you counter it, protect it or build around it.
Does it stop actions or only change numbers?A stun or silence changes decisions differently from a damage or speed buff.
Does it protect Health directly?Shield effects and recovery states can decide whether damage reaches the real survival pool.
Can it be removed or avoided?Cleanse, shields, positioning and item timing can change the result.
Which item applies it?The state explains the effect, but the item page explains cooldown, ammunition, unlocks and scaling.

FAQ

Why are drones, mines and turrets not listed as states here?

They are better explained through the item or system that creates them. A helper can appear during combat, but it is not the same kind of state as Stun, Poison, Shield State or Repair State.

Why did the same hit have a different result?

The target may have had a shield effect, a buff, a debuff, a Critical Hits result, a Misses result or a map rule active.
